Ashraya was founded in January 2002 in Chennai, India. Ashraya has grown over the years in numbers and scope of influence. Our activities are basically broken down into three main headings: Spiritually Oriented Events Ashraya's primary aim is to be a church - a community of people who seek to know and follow the teachings of Jesus. With this goal, we have several ongoing programmes. .gif) | Ashraya Explore! - a weekly meeting for people from all religious backgrounds to consider how the teachings of Jesus might be applicable to our lives today | | Ashraya Encounter - a weekly meeting for people who have decided to become followers of Jesus
| | The Alpha Course - an annual course which takes up the fundamental precepts of Christianity in a small group setting | | The Beta Course - a follow-up course to Alpha teaching basic principles of how to practically live the teachings of Jesus |
Family Oriented Events Ashraya's secondary aim is to be a strong influence for the family in our community. We take seriously our efforts to help families through our various Family-Oriented Programmes

| Marriage Masala - a marriage enrichment workshop for engaged and married couples
|
 | The Good Parenting Workshop - a how-to workshop for parents of children aged 0-12 years |
 | FunStation Summer Camp - a 10 day summer camp for kids aged 4-12 |
 | FunStation Kids' Club - a weekly fun-tastic gathering for kids aged 4-12 |
 | GO Sports - a kids' sports initiative with sports camps and leagues for children |
Community Oriented Activities Ashraya also seeks to impact the less fortunate in our community through service to the poor and needy. To this end, we sponsor a tuition centre in a nearby slum in partnership with another NGO, reach out to the less fortunate through regular Outreach Sundays, conduct clothing collections for the needy, and make regular donations to other NGOs working with the poor
